(is that not the funniest picture ever?!!!)

So there are some blogs (this one too)that I follow on a regular basis, and several of these people are currently on a Compassion trip to India. And right now, I just wish I could be with them! If I could carry Brennan in a sling with me everywhere I go, and somehow get past my hubby, mom and mom in law before they kill me, I would so be THERE! But for right now, I'll settle for experiencing the trip through their blogs and praying for them! Speaking of India, Jon and I just watched Slumdog Millionaire the other weekend, pretty sweet movie, huh? I love how authentic and real that movie was- that is real life India, the here and now.

On the Brennan front- we had a ROUGH day yesterday. It started off with him not sleeping well AT ALL (kill me now). The rest of the day, he was just not happy. He wouldn't go down for naps, wouldn't let me put him down in his bouncer, whined, cried, cried some more, etc. I took his temp because I thought maybe he was getting a fever or feeling sick, but it was just fine. I texted Jon and told him we had a devil child on our hands, so thankfully he came home a little early to help out. Strangely enough, he slept GREAT last night (7 hrs straight), and is being a peach this morning and is currently taking a nap (we'll see how the rest of the day goes). Every once in a while (he's had three so far), he has these days where he is just horrendous- and I think that was just one of them. Thankfully I dealt with it emotionally much better than the other two times. Jon actually said to me, "you look really good for having the day you had". I think he was expecting me to have a red, swollen face from crying!

I need to get some things done before the little man wakes up, adios!

We are loving this day!! It is a warm and sunny day here in Lansing and it is wonderful! Jon is home for a three day weekend, yay!

Brennan had his 2 month check up today and did marvelous. If you can believe this- he is 13 lbs 4 oz!! 85 percentile for both height and weight! He also got three shots but did great- he cried a little when they gave them to him initially, but didn't cry after that.

Two Months

Dear Brennan,
Today, you are two months old!! In some ways, time has seemed to crawl, and in other ways, these 8 weeks have flown by! I've heard someone say about parenting that the days are long but the years are short.

Gosh, I love you more and more each day. You're starting to grow some peach fuzz on the top of your head and it is about the cutest thing I've ever seen. Lately you've been a lot more interactive with your expressions, smiles and coos. Both Daddy and I have really enjoyed "talking" with you while you sit in your bouncer or on our laps. You are the happiest right after you eat and have had your diaper changed. I get the most smiles out of you while you lay on your changing table.

We've learned a little bit about you these past two months. You're not a huge fan of taking baths, at least not yet. You hate the sun in your eyes. If we let you "cry it out" for even just ten minutes, you are angry at us for not picking you up and you cry for at least another hour in our arms- just so we know how mad at us you are :) When you're hungry, you let us know and when it comes to food you have little patience (me either, I totally understand). You love your bouncer and laying in the boppy but aren't a massive fan of the swing. You love looking out the window.

You are not a very consistent sleeper. In fact, I think you take after your uncle Andy and just aren't a big sleeper. You do take naps, but they aren't often very long. You usually wake up once or twice in the middle of the night. You've even slept through the night a few times!

Brennan, I'm so glad your such a healthy, happy, little man. I love you!

A progression of smiles

Are you sick of seeing/hearing about my baby boy yet? Too bad!! I have nothing else to blog about since taking care of him is my life right now!! :) I've got a two month (on Tuesday) post ruminating in my head, so look for that later this week. Here's my babes smiles:

Dude, lots going on in our lives, but none of it I can blog about!!! However, I can tell you that Brennan slept, oh, NINE hours straight last night!! Are you kidding me? He is still unpredictable in his sleeping patterns- he'll sleep between three and 7 hours straight and usually wakes up once during the night. But a whole night of sleep without interruption, it was amazing. I'm hoping it becomes a pattern (fingers crossed).

As Jon was walking out the door to work the other day, I had just finished feeding Brennan and as burping him. Jon caught this adorable photo of him sleeping on my shoulder.

Well, the week from &*%#$@ is over for Jon, so I'm looking forward to seeing him more this week! I think he said he worked 77 hours, getting ready for the Easter services. Sunday, after the last service, we headed to GL to celebrate Easter with my fam. We rode Steve's mini dirt bike, played Rock Band and bathed Brennan after yet another diaper blow out :)

Jon hooked up a webcam to Brennan's crib so we can watch him while downstairs and see how he's doing, it's sweet:

Question:

What bottle have you found that worked the best for your baby (i.e. did not cause a lot of gas)?

We gave Brennan a bottle for the first time (Philips Avent), and it caused the poor guy to have gas all day. He kept waking up from his naps, and as soon as I'd pick him up, he'd burp. Caused for a long day for me and a long sleepless day for him.

A Quick Post While the Boy is Napping!

We went to GR on Sunday to celebrate Kaitlin's 3rd birthday and Mckenna's dedication. Brennan was a pooping machine all day long- pooped through his outfit during the service while my Grandma was holding him and then immediately after the service again. Jon and John decided to race - check out the video (and disregard me saying my child's name wrong and "novice", again, I'm blaming it on sleep deprivation):

For one of my baby showers, I recieved an awesome gift of a free newborn portrait session. While we were in Bridgman a few weekends back to see Mark, Erin and Westin, we cashed in on our photo session- here are a few of my favorites!




This week, Jon is crazy busy at work with Easter being this weekend. He's working 7 days straight and 10 hour days, crazy! Brennan and I are getting used to life together. Last night he slept from 10:30 to 6:30- it was awesome! I actually woke up at 4 and couldn't go back to sleep- I was just wide awake- so used to being up in the middle of the night!!
OK, much more to write, but we have a friend coming over to visit so I need to go- have a good one!!
