Mom Question

I think this is totally a new mom question- but I don't care!!! Comment back on whatcha think!
When Brennan wakes up in the morning- he doesn't cry- he just lays in his crib and talks or motorboats. The problem is- he'll do this for a LONG time if I let him go- at least an hour or so. He wakes up usually around 7:30. Should I wait for him to start crying before I go get him and let him just chill out in his crib? Or should I go in once I hear him and know he's awake? See- he takes a morning nap about two hours after he wakes up and if I let him chill in his crib- I'm not sure what to count as his awake time- when I went in to get him- or when I first heard him make noises. Whaddya think??

Ok, well, we finalllly began packing the basement up last night- so were on the right track, ha! I have a pretty bad head cold and I'm worried B is getting it too. We THINK we've got the insurance stuff figured out, but then again we've thought that before and what do you know? ha!!!
Ok, he's motorboating away in his crib and it's 7:45 and I'm gonna go get him!

Owen will do the same thing! I usually let him "talk" until he gets a little whiny. Sometimes thats 4 minutes, sometimes more like 20. Owen still takes a nap 2 hours after he gets up too, so if he woke up at 8 I usually put him back down around 10 or 10:30. It all depends on how cranky he gets.

Um... For me, when Finn was at this stage, I would just let him chill until I was ready to go get him. So If I heard him at 7:30, I'd get up, take a shower, and get ready for the day. Then, go in and get him (whether he was crying or not). I would also count the time that he actually woke up from sleep as his official "up" time. But if he wasn't tired until 3 hours past that, (rather than 2) I'd let him stay up... unless he gets cranky (or I saw other sleepy signs).

I would say let him entertain himself for a while, but don't wait until he starts crying. Getting him while he is still happy is much more pleasant for both of you, but it also shows him he doesn't have to cry to get your attention. I'm sure you'll get lots more smiles from him if you get him while he's still enjoying himself.

Wow, that's awesome! Brooklyn cries almost immediately after waking...which I've always heard is a sign that she's not getting enough sleep, which is often the case, I'm positive!
I think Erin Z. is so smart -- let him be on his own for a little bit but get him before he cries, so he doesn't think he needs to cry to get you.
How great that he's so happy on his own though!
Brooklyn has gone back to the napping about 2 hours after she wakes up thing...sometimes 3 hours after. She definitely lets me know when she needs that nap, so I really don't watch the clock for it, but if I glance at it I'll go "Sure enough, 2 hours on the dot!":)

Tyler used to "collect his thoughts" in the morning in his crib. It was a good time for us to get up and around (especially shower) before getting him up. Sometimes he would be standing at the end of his crib waiting for us! That always made the day start out on the right foot.
Can't wait to see you guys in a few days.

I'd let him let you know when he's ready to get up. I'm sure you don't mind the extra time. I would put him down for his nap 2 hours from when you think he woke up.

On child number 1 I went more the Erin Z. route, on number 2&3 more the Erin M route. Now out of necessity I let Kane cry for a bit while I get the other two breakfast and myself. If I didnt let Kane cry in his bed from time to time (or daily, whatever:)) I would NEVER get anything done!:) The kid hates naps.
